Welcome to UH Personal Finance Fall 2024

Hello, and welcome to the Fall 2024 session of Personal Finance at the Bauer College of Business, University of Houston! I’m Jim Munchbach, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional, and I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Personal Finance here since 2012.

In this session, you’ll get take deep dive into personal financial planning through our course, Intro to Personal Finance (Money Study Group). This course is your gateway to financial independence, designed to teach you how to become a millionaire by age 50.

What You Will Learn

In the Money Study Group, you’ll experience the essential elements of the Financial Planning Process. To help you easily remember these components, I’ve coined the acronym FREETIC:

  • Financial Independence or Retirement Planning

  • Risk Management or Insurance Planning

  • Estate Planning

  • Education Planning

  • Tax Planning Strategies

  • Investment Management Strategies

  • Cash Flow Management

Through Weekly Zoom lectures, practical video tutorials, assignments, and online class collaboration, you’ll develop financial habits that foster clarity, confidence, and long-term success.

Throughout the semester, you will be building financial muscle, culminating in the creation of your personalized Blueprint for Financial Success.

Course Resources

Instead of a traditional textbook, you’ll have access to a digital library based on my books: Make Your Money Count, What Matters Most, and Allied for Success. These resources are organized and accessible at MoneyStudyGroup.com, ensuring you have everything you need to excel in the course.

Premium Planning Platform

As part of your enrollment, you will gain full access to the Premium Planning Platform from RightCapital. This powerful tool, which I also use at BayRock Financial, will guide you step-by-step in setting up your own Financial Plan.

Weekly Zoom Meetings and YouTube Playlist

Our Weekly Zoom Meetings are scheduled for Tuesdays at 10 AM. You can join live or catch the sessions later on YouTube, LinkedIn, or Facebook where we’ll be LiveStreaming each lecture.

YouTube Playlist for UH Personal Finance Fall 2024

For your convenience, all sessions will be saved to our dedicated YouTube Playlist, which can be accessed at UHPlaylist.com. This Playlist, titled “UH Playlist-Fall 2024,” will serve as a valuable resource throughout the course, allowing you to revisit any lectures or topics as needed.
