Facebook Live Missional Money

Facebook Live now lets us livestream our online financial planning course, events, resources, and updates on Facebook. You can watch from a phone, computer or connected TV. With reactions, shares, comments, and other interactive features you’re able to engage with the content we post on our home page or on our new Facebook Page.

Why we us Facebook Live on our Page

Facebook Live on our Page gives us access to more tools and capabilities than going live to a group or event. Using the Online Events feature allows us to benefit from all Page live streaming tools when going live to an Event.

Facebook Live (streams to Pages) have the following features which are not available for Group and Event livestreams:

  • The ability to crosspost to other pages. Only live broadcasts to a page can be crossposted.

  • The ability to access detailed insights in Creator Studio.

  • The ability to restrict access to your livestream to a specific geography or age demographic on Facebook you can use Age and Geographic Gating.

When we post our Facebook Live Stream to our Page we can share it to a Group or Event.

How We Go Facebook Live on Our Page

We will use an iPhone, Camera, or Mac computer

There are two ways to go live on Facebook. We can use an iPhone with the Facebook app installed or connect a camera with streaming software to Facebook.

Facebook Live-2

We will use an iPhone to go live on Facebook when:

  • We’re on the go.

  • We don’t have access to extra equipment like a computer, a camera, a microphone, etc.

  • We don’t need to add on-screen graphics or switch between cameras.

We will use a separate camera and streaming software to go live when we:

  • Want to maximize video and audio quality.

  • Wish to include graphics or other advanced features (extra software may be required).

  • Have access to extra equipment like a computer, a camera, a microphone, etc.

The quality of our Facebook Live stream will always depend on our internet connection speed. We will try to go live when we have a strong connection (using Wi-Fi instead of our phone’s cellular data whenever possible). For a more stable video stream, we will generally use a tripod or camera stabilizer.

Facebook Live with a camera and streaming software

When we go live with a camera we need streaming software (also referred to as encoding software or an encoder). The encoder we use will depend on the type of content we are streaming.
